Master's degree

The requirements for obtaining the Sciences Master’s degree are:

  • obtain at least 20 (twenty) credits, 12 (twelve) of which in compulsory subjects and the remaining 8 (eight) among the elective subjects;
  • write and defend a dissertation that have to be approved by an Examining Board;
  • complete all other requirements established by the “Estatuto e Regimento Geral da UFAL” (Statute and General Rules of UFAL - in portuguese only).

Doctor's degree

The requirements for obtaining the Sciences Doctor’s degree are:

  • obtain at least 44 (forty-four) credits,  24 (twenty-four) of which in compulsory subjects and the remaining 20 (twenty) among the elective subjects;
  • write and defend a original research theses that have to be approved by an Examining Board;
  • pass the qualifi exams;
